the Artist

Salvador Rubio Rivera is a Mexican-born, Washington, D.C.–based emerging artist whose work delves into themes of identity, community, and cultural memory. With a BFA in Studio Art from Western Washington University, he combines formal training with a deep personal connection to his heritage.

His multidisciplinary practice spans airbrush, oil, acrylic, and pencil, often blending traditional techniques with contemporary aesthetics. Through his art, Rubio Rivera captures the essence of his subjects—friends, neighbors, and figures from his community—highlighting their presence and stories.

In his debut solo exhibition, La Neta, showcased at La Cosecha, Rubio Rivera presented a series of portraits that fuse elements of art history, pop culture, and the vibrant spirit of his Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.
